DynaLIFE plans to make more appointments available at its Okotoks lab.
Alberta Health Services announced in a news release on April 19 it is working with DynaLIFE and Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) to address what it describes as concerns about wait times for lab services.
An emailed statement from AHS said DynaLIFE confirmed it will make more weekday appointments available in Okotoks starting in May, and that the facility will be open on Saturdays beginning in July.
The Okotoks DynaLIFE location opened in December after taking over community lab services from APL in a move that representatives said would improve service. Since then, there has been growing concern about wait times for lab work.
As of April 21, DynaLIFE’s online booking tool shows no available appointments for routine testing in Okotoks until the middle of June, representing a wait time of about seven weeks.
In the media release, AHS said lab operations will be expanded in the Calgary zone, including Airdrie, Cochrane, Calgary and Okotoks. Some of the steps being taken include adding weekend service and creating temporary lab locations.
According to AHS, DynaLIFE is bringing on additional staff, recruiting from within and outside of Alberta.
