Fire extinguished at Meadow Ridge School

A fire broke out inside a portable classroom at Meadow Ridge School in Okotoks, but it was put out before firefighters arrived.
Okotoks fire crews had a house fire under control within half an hour on Friday night.
Okotoks fire crews responded to a fire at Meadow Ridge School on Jan. 11. School officials said there was no danger to students.

A fire broke out at Meadow Ridge School in Okotoks, but it was put out before firefighters arrived. 

Okotoks Fire & Rescue responded to a fire alarm from the school at about 2 p.m. on Jan. 11. 

Initial reports say the fire occurred in insulation inside a portable classroom. 

Sara Fox, manager of communications at Foothills School Division, said there were no evacuations and there was no danger to students. 

Fox said the fire was caused by a welding spark from a modular construction project at the scene.

Okotoks Fire & Rescue is on scene and investigating the cause of the fire.
