Broken household items can be given new life at an upcoming Repair Café in Okotoks.

Volunteers will be on hand at the Viking Rentals Centre (formerly Centennial Arenas) on Saturday, Oct. 26 from noon to 4 p.m., where they will look at, and try to repair, a variety of common items.

Items accepted for potential repairs at the Repair Café include electronics, small appliances, smaller pieces of furniture, toys, bicycles, and clothing or housewares for simple mending jobs.

The event is free-of-charge, but food bank donations are accepted.

Visitors need to stay with their item while it is fixed. The owner is responsible for disposing of any item that is found to be beyond repair.

Microwaves or vacuums are not accepted for repairs.
