Green bins now being picked up weekly in Okotoks

Garbage collection in Okotoks will switch to bi-weekly in May.
Green bin collection starts at Okotoks homes on Oct. 3.
Green bin collection is being done on a weekly basis as of April 1.

It’s April, which means you no longer have to remember if it’s your week for green cart pick-up.

Organics carts were picked up bi-weekly from November to the end of March, but now that the calendar has flipped to April, they will be collected weekly until the end of October.

The Town of Okotoks reminds residents that food, pet and yard waste can all go in the green bins.

The annual spring switch to weekly green cart collection isn’t the only change for waste collection services in Okotoks.

Starting in May, garbage will be picked up once every two weeks, and with the switch to bi-weekly collection comes a change in pick-up days.

Organics and recycling will be picked up on a different day than garbage, rather than all three carts being collected on the same day.
