High River RCMP have tips to help prevent vehicle theft or break-ins.

High River RCMP are sharing tips to prevent car theft and vehicle break-ins.

Police say taking these precautions can significantly reduce the risk of theft:

  • Lock up every time. Many break-ins happen to unlocked vehicles. Always double-check that your doors and windows are secured.
  • Do not leave your keys or key fob in the vehicle.
  • Remove all valuables from your vehicle or, if you need to leave items in your vehicle, keep them out of sight.
  • Remove garage openers from vehicles. They can allow criminals to gain access to your residence.
  • Don’t leave your vehicle running unattended. Vehicles running with the keys left inside are prime targets for theft.
  • Report suspicious activity to your local police

In High River, suspicious activity can be reported to the High River RCMP detachment at 403-652-2356.
