One of Okotoks' new residential developments, Ridgemont, will take shape on 65 hectares at the corner of 32 Street and 338 Avenue. A virtual information session about the proposed neighbourhood will be held on Sept. 27.

The public can get a first look at development plans for a new neighbourhood in north Okotoks during an information session next week.

Lamont Land is pursuing approval of a Neighbourhood Area Structure Plan (NASP) to develop Ridgemont, which is to be located south of 338 Avenue and east of 32 Street on about 65 hectares.

The land is part of the Trilogy Plans Area Structure Plan (ASP) that was approved by Okotoks council in June, and the NASP is a more detailed continuation of the planning work already completed.

Details of the proposal will be shared with the public during a virtual information session from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Kayla McCarthy, a senior planner with B&A Planning Group, said the plan calls for predominantly residential housing, along with green space and some commercial sites.

“There’ll be a variety of housing types throughout the plan area,” McCarthy said.

She said more information about the housing mix would be addressed during the presentation, but said there would be single-family and multi-family homes included.

"We're still refining the plan," she said.

St. James Church and Holy Trinity Academy are included in the plan area.

Members of the public will be invited to share feedback during and after the session.

Megan McClure, a communications specialist with B&A, said feedback will be gathered and used to refine the plan before it’s submitted to the Town for approval.

“Even if people can't attend, there will be a recording of the virtual information session on the website, and an online survey,” McClure said.

Changes can be made before an application is submitted to the Town, she said.

A second public information event will be held next spring, and the approval process is expected to begin in summer 2024.
