Okotoks firefighters won medals in several events at the FireFit Regional Championship this month at Spruce Meadows.
“I am proud of the entire group that competed with Okotoks,” said Capt. Ryan Chigol.
On June 15 and 16, Okotoks firefighters competed in several firefighting emergency tasks. The competition results are decided based on a timed trial of how fast competitors could complete the tasks.
Firefighter Lisa Barton placed third overall in the women's individual event, while Chigol was fourth in the over 45 age group individual event. Chigol and Barton finished in second place in the mixed Tech 2 relay, with John Dillabough and Mason Espin in fourth place in Tech 2 mixed relay.
The Okotoks team has now qualified for the national competition in September.
