The Town of Okotoks is taking steps to evaluate social needs in the community and to gather insight from residents.
The Social Needs Assessment is being done to assess strengths, assets and emerging needs in Okotoks, the Town said in a media release.
Sian Anderson, community and social development team lead, said the assessment is an important step in understanding social priorities in Okotoks.
“By actively engaging our community, we can better respond to social changes and make sure that our programs align with the needs and aspirations of our residents,” Anderson said.
Residents, businesses, social service organizations or other groups can help identify priorities and emerging trends, the Town said.
“Your participation is essential in this process,” Anderson said.
Information collected will be used to develop actionable social wellness strategies to be put in place by 2025, the Town said.
Residents can help identify emerging social needs by hosting or participating in Community Conversations.
From Oct. 11 to Nov. 1, Okotokians can host semi-structured, relaxed discussions with family, friends or colleagues, the Town said.
Training, tools and guidance will be provided to help facilitate meaningful discussions, and residents interested in hosting conversations are asked to register for training by Sept. 30.
