A taste of the Olympics is on offer this week at Spruce Meadows.

Olympic gold medallist in breaking Phil ‘Wizard’ Kim is set to perform on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the Foothills County site to help kickoff its marquee ‘Masters’ showjumping tournament.

“There is so much hype around the sport of breaking at the moment, and it’s an honour to have the best dancer in the world joining us,” said Krista Poffenroth, Manager, Exhibits and Business Development at Spruce Meadows.

“This is just one of many ways we are looking to tap into a younger audience who we hope will enjoy the offerings of Spruce Meadows for years to come.”

Kim, who won gold in the first breaking competition featured at the Olympics last month in Paris, will perform on the Scotiabank Stage at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

In addition, the Masters week will also feature musical performances from Calgary’s Matt Blais, the fan-favourite corgi races, the Blacksmith World Championships and more.

The showjumping competition, one of the premier events in the world, runs from Sept. 4-8.
