One dead after collision on Highway 2A near High River

A 52-year-old man from Calgary was pronounced dead at the scene while his passenger was transported by STARS with unknown injuries.

One man has died following a collision between a semi and a passenger vehicle Friday morning. 

Highway 2A between 434 Ave East and Highway 543 East was closed for several hours as officers investigated the collision, which occurred at the entrance to Cargill. 

According to RCMP, a call came in at 7:30 a.m. advising of a collision between a semi and a passenger vehicle. 

The 52-year-old male driver of the passenger vehicle, a resident of Calgary, was declared deceased at the scene. The passenger of his vehicle was airlifted via STARS to a Calgary hospital with unknown injuries. The semi driver was not injured.

The investigation into the crash continues. RCMP believe heavy fog may have been a factor in the collision.
