After announcing the closure of stores in Ontario and Nova Scotia last week, it appears that Peavey Mart is shutting down nationwide.
According to Retail Insider, all locations in Canada will be closed due to financial difficulties for the Red Deer-based retailer.
Peavey Mart operates 90 stores across the country, including in High River, Airdrie, Rocky Mountain House and other places in Alberta, carrying a range of hardware, automotive, outdoor and agricultural supplies.
The company has not publicily confirmed the closures, but social media posts made on Monday say that everything is on sale at the High River location, with no returns.
The Western Wheel contacted the High River location for more information and was told to contact the company through an email address, but there has been no reply to questions sent by email about a nationwide shutdown.
The reported closures come a week after Peavey Mart announced the shutdown of nearly two dozen stores in Eastern Canada,
In a media release on Jan. 21, Doug Anderson, president of Peavey Industries, said those closures were part of ongoing efforts to adapt to changing market dynamics.
“The Canadian retail environment has faced significant disruption over recent years, and Peavey has not been immune to these challenges,” Anderson said.
The 22 locations were set to close by April this year.
