Temporary water fountains are being set up to keep people and pets hydrated in Olde Towne Okotoks.

The two fountains will be set up in the downtown event zone this summer to provide an accessible and safe water source, according to the Town of Okotoks.

The fountains connect to fire hydrants, and Town water manager Davey Robertson said they will provide the same drinking water that comes out of Okotoks' taps.

The fountains should be operational on June 13 and will be in place until September, the Town said.

One fountain will be at the corner of Veterans Way and Elizabeth Street and the other will be at Olde Towne Plaza, near the Heartland Café.

“Each fountain is designed with both human and dog-friendly capabilities, ensuring that everyone, including our furry friends, stays hydrated,” the Town said.

Water samples will be taken before the fountains are turned on, the Town added, and they will be sanitized and tested regularly to comply with AHS guidelines.
