Tuesday was a good day to be a Falcon on the hardcourt.
The Foothills Falcons swept the crosstown classic double-header of senior basketball over the rival Holy Trinity Academy Knights in a pair of seesaw contests on Dec. 10 at HTA.
In the front-end of the double-header, the Falcons senior girls fought off a six-point deficit in the first quarter to edge the Knights by a 78-61 score.
Foothills took control in the second and third quarters, holding a deep HTA squad to 16 points while producing 44.
Lead changes were part of the script in the finale on Tuesday as well.
The Knights started strong and carried a 12-point lead into the half only to have Foothills rally, taking its first lead of the game on a Jeremiah Baker lay up in the final minute of the third quarter. The Falcons kept up the momentum in the fourth quarter and earned the 76-67 victory.
It's back to tournament action this weekend with the Foothills teams travelling for the Cardston Classic. The Knights girls are in Lethbridge for the LCI Green and Gold Tournament. The HTA boys are in Calgary for St. Francis' competition.
