Jordan Procyshen, an Okotoks Dawgs alumnus, has joined the Amarillo Sod Poodles as bench coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Double-A affiliate after nine seasons as a catcher in the minor leagues with three organizations.

The Sod Poodles, known colloquially as the ‘Soddies’, play in the Texas League where they were 2023 and 2019 champions.

Procyshen, a Holy Trinity Academy graduate, spent last season as a bullpen catcher with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The 31-year-old, a Boston Red Sox draft pick in 2014, also played in the Dodgers and Texas Rangers including at the AA and AAA level as recently as the 2023 season.

Also in 2023, Procyshen represented Canada at its Pan American Games qualifying series, playing on the national squad with fellow Okotokian and Dawgs ace, Matt Lloyd. He was also Team Canada's bullpen catcher at the World Baseball Classic that year.

Through nine seasons of pro ball, 'Pro' played 436 games and compiled 29 home runs and 179 RBI.
