The Okotoks Bow Mark Oilers will see a trio of out of province opponents in their return to the Circle K Classic later this month.
Okotoks is in Pool 1 alongside B.C.’s Cariboo Cougars, Detroit Victory Honda and Sioux Falls out of South Dakota in the 2024-25 Circle K Classic U18 AAA hockey tournament held Dec. 27-Jan. 1 in Calgary.
The Bow Mark Oilers have enjoyed a strong start to the Alberta Elite Hockey League season with a 12-6 record, just one point back of top spot in the South Division.
At the Classic, they’ll see a Cougars team that leads the B.C. U18 AAA standings, a Detroit team that won the D-Division at the Calgary tournament last January and a newcomer to the event in Sioux Falls.
The 32-team competition is comprised of six host teams from the Calgary region, AEHL representation, teams from the Canadian Sport School Hockey League and international clubs from the United States and Team Hungary.
Pool 1 is the only group that doesn’t feature one of the seven CSSHL teams.
Bow Mark opens the competition on Dec. 27 against Detroit, a 10:30 a.m. start at the Max Bell Centre. The full Okotoks schedule can be found here.
The 2024-25 tournament features a revamped format where the top two teams from each of the eight pools advance to a sweet 15 in the A-bracket.
The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds go on Dec. 31 with the final on New Year’s Day.
