Bowling is an everyday activity for the Millennium Lanes’ most recent provincial champion.

Okotoks’ Quinton See, who brought home the Youth Bowl Alberta-Boys South YBC Peewee Provincial Championship with the best over average scores in his division, makes a point of practising the sport whenever possible.

“At least twice a day,” he said. “I built a bowling alley at home with bottles, a tennis ball, a dry erase scoreboard and a pink marker.”

Quinton competed with an average of 85 and bowled well above that figure with scores 127, 93 and 126. Competitions were held in-house and then sent to Bowl Alberta which tabulated the top performers.

He was presented the provincial banner and medal on Nov. 9 at the Okotoks club.

The eight-year-old joined the Okotoks youth club at the start of last season and quickly made his mark, earning Rookie of the Year honours.

Coach Wendy MacDiarmid said that even as a new bowler Quinton always brought positivity and could be found helping other bowlers and celebrating their successes.

And those qualities have carried over into year two.

Quinton, who got engaged in the sport through a school field trip, encouraged other area youth to give the sport a shot.

“Come give it a try,” he said. “It’s a lot of fun and we have great teams and amazing coaches at the Millennium Lanes in Okotoks.”

Millennium Lanes offers youth programming in the senior (15-19), junior (11-14), bantam (9-10), peewee (6-8) and dino (3-5) age groups.
