I can relate, I broke my arm this year on a snow covered skating rink situated on the path. I have walked a lot on the paths and based on the installation it does look like all they did was lay asphalt onto a gravel bed without doing any drainage evaluation nor installing the path to naturally drain when temperatures rise. In many instances the path traps water on the surface and rather than skirting the snow off the path they broom it off which further polishes the ice.

I thought the goal moving forward was to encourage more path adoption, but the town seems to really only want to use the idea of the paths as a marketing tool to secure more people without actually making the path functional.

The town has an impressive pathway system, and having walked on a great chunk of it. However, when the weather takes a turn it is evident the paths where installed in a rush with little consideration for natural drainage to mitigate ice build up. I for one have a standing order to be active to offset my health concerns, and I can not do that now as I suffered a debilitating injury as a result of poor path management and horrible grade design which entrapped water rather than irrigated it.

If the goal is to entrap people in their homes then the Town of Okotoks has succeeded, but I thought the desire was to embrace the Norwegian principals of travel where ever your two legs could take you.

I find so many people have little or no understanding of how goods get to their door. There are on average 8000 ships in route at any one time on the oceans worldwide transporting goods. (If you want to see the actual scope go to the webpage: www.marinetraffic.com). All goods in some way have to be removed from these ships are being trucked. So being somewhat incentive to the trucking industry and just assuming a trucker should work in an unsafe and sometimes dangerous environment is very inconsiderate. But the mandates are such that make trucking of goods next to impossible. Requiring a covid free test each time a load is transferred to the US or between provinces. And some drivers do provincial transports in the course of their driving day. Most Truckers are vaccinated (90%) they are protesting mandates that will draw out transport to weeks rather than days. Being vaccinated is not prevention for Covid, and you can die from it anyway regardless of precautions.
