I quite like the deer. As a matter of fact we had 1 doe and 4 yearlings grazing on our lawn this afternoon. The deer have as much right to be here as we do. In many instances their behaviour is far better than alot of people in this town.

Just as with the disgusting treatment of Alberta’s wildlife and the multitude of hunting licenses that have been issued this year, here too is another example of UCP party greed. I’m ashamed I voted for them.

It makes me ill that Todd Loewen has been handed the UCP portfolio he was given. He is part owner of an outfitting business with his son, so this is a blatant conflict of interest. He is an avid big game hunter himself. He makes these selfish policies to accommodate himself and his hunting buddies.
There is absolutely no science behind his decisions to issue hunting licences on any given species.

The Alberta Parks Minister should be questioned for his decision to increase licences for cougar hunting. It is not based on any science of population numbers.

Thankfully this story of the orphaned cougar kittens ended with the kittens being saved and relocated. The best story would have been they were raised by their mother in the wilds where they were supposed to be. The selfishness and greed of government officials and sheer ignorance of some hunters can’t even allow for a female cougar to raise her babies.
