Millarville Stockland 4-H Beef Club got off to a great start last fall when a weigh-in was held at the Black Diamond Land & Cattle Co. Thanks to Black Diamond Land & Cattle Co. for letting us use their facility for multiple years now. It looks like that all of our steers and heifers are all healthy.

In November, some of the members went to the Priddis fall supper and helped out with the dinner. Members of the Mutts & Mustangs helped too. It was a big hit. I think everyone can agree, the upside down apple cake was the best.

We also had a record book workshop meeting which turned out to be more talking about the carcass competition coming up.

December was a merry Christmas for the members of the Millarville Stockland 4-H Beef Club. The Christmas party at Laser City was amazing. Thanks to Harrison Rawn and Sterling Christman for making that the highlight of the year. I think we should do it again next year too.

In January, we went on our beef farm tour. It was fun visiting each other's farms and seeing how each family raised their animals. Thanks to the Christman family for making lunch at our last farm stop.

At the end of January, we had a vet farm tour at the new Eastern Slopes clinic in Black Diamond. It was fascinating and my favorite part was in the “garage.” They had two cow chutes and one of them could be turned on its side.

We are looking forward to lots more fun stuff as we roll into spring.
