Diamond Valley firefighters respond to propane tank fire

Diamond Valley Fire Rescue responded to a report of a large propane tank on fire at a property in Foothills County on Oct. 26, with support from Okotoks Fire Rescue.

Diamond Valley Fire Rescue responded to a report of a large propane tank on fire with nearby structures and animals at a property on 64 St. West in Foothills County near DeWinton at approximately 11:10 a.m. on Oct. 26, with support from Okotoks Fire Rescue.

A propane tank fire was extinguished in Foothills County today (Oct. 26).

Diamond Valley Fire Rescue responded to a report of a large propane tank on fire with nearby structures and animals at a property on 64 St. West in Foothills County near DeWinton at approximately 11:10 a.m., the department stated in a press release. Okotoks Fire Rescue assisted with the response.

Upon the arrival of firefighters, the fire was found to be mostly extinguished and the threat to the propane tank limited due to the quick actions of bystanders.

The fire is currently under investigation by Foothills Fire Department and is not deemed suspicious at this time.

Diamond Valley Fire Rescue reminds Foothills residents that as the weather changes, it is important to remember that outdoor electrical cords should be rated for cold temperatures and be in good condition — inspect extension cords and unplug them when not in use.
