There is more on tap at this year’s Diamond Valley Show & Shine.

Set for Sunday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Black Diamond, vehicles will line up along 1st Avenue SW from Centre Avenue to 6 Avenue.

This is the second year the show is being held and it's hosted by the Diamond Valley Car Club.

“I’m hoping that it’s a nice day and we get 300 vehicles,” said club member Chris Challice.

Besides cars, trucks and motorcycles, new additions to the event this year include the Man Van and the Teamsters Local 362 semitruck with a stage and DJ, Challice said.

There will also be food trucks after there were no outside vendors last year and downtown ended up being swamped with people, he said.

“The restaurants were packed,” he said. “We thought this year, we better have some vendors.”

High River-based car club River City Classics will be selling raffle tickets for a 2006 Mini Cooper S convertible during the show.

Raffle tickets will be sold for other prizes, from dinner for two at Longview Steakhouse to gift certificates for hundreds of dollars worth of car services, he said.

Although not connected to the event, a beer garden with live music will be held at The Feed Lot near the site of the show & shine.

Custom, locally-made awards will be presented to the top 20 vehicles in the show. For or those looking to register a vehicle, the cost is $20 and registration starts at 8 a.m.

The Diamond Valley Car Club is a registered non-profit with about 54 members. The club holds a weekly get-together at the local A&W on Friday nights, Challice said.
