The second annual May Market is on May 25 at Marshall's Country Store in Diamond Valley.

An upcoming market is likely to bring visitors to Diamond Valley from far and wide.

Marshall’s Country Store, owned by TV star Amber Marshall, is holding its second annual May Market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 25.

Marshall plays Amy Fleming on the CBC series Heartland. She opened her county store on Main Street in Diamond Valley in 2022.

Along with special deals, the market will feature local vendors who specialize in items like jewelry and leather goods, Marshall said.

Heartland has aired for 17 seasons on CBC and has earned a global following since it premiered in 2007.

The show's popularity draws international visitors to filming locations in High River and Foothills County, and the market is an opportunity to highlight the Diamond Valley area, she said.

“It's just a really nice opportunity for not only locals, but tourists and people travelling, to be able to come and shop local vendors,” Marshall said. "There are so many great little shops and things in the area."

While entrance to the market is free, more than 100 tickets were sold for a private meet and greet with Marshall and other Heartland cast members.

The $25 tickets were released last month and sold out in less than a day, and about 70 per cent were purchased by people who live outside of the greater Calgary area, Marshall said.

According to comments on the store's Facebook page, people from as far away as Florida, New York and Mississippi showed interest in getting tickets to meet Marshall and other cast members.

All proceeds from meet and greet tickets will go to Opening Gaits Therapeutic Riding Society, she said. Located in DeWinton, the organization’s mission is to give people with disabilities an opportunity to enjoy the benefits of riding horses.

“I had the opportunity to go and spend some time with them and see the great things they're doing," Marshall said. "And decided that it would be my charity of choice for this event."

During the market, food and drinks will be available from a nearby business.

"Wimberley Market next door will be open, serving ice cream and hot dogs and things like that," Marshall said.

Marshall's County Store carries men's, women's and children’s clothing and accessories, gifts, home decor and official Amber Marshall merchandise, with much of it personally selected by Marshall.
