New speed limit to come into effect in Diamond Valley

Effective Sept. 1, the speed limit in the Black Diamond area will be lowered to line up with the limit in Turner Valley.
Woodhaven Drive has a posted speed limit of 40 kilometres per hour. The 40 km/hr limit will soon be in effect for all Okotoks residential streets unless otherwise posted.
The speed limit in Diamond Valley will be updated to 40 km/h throughout the town, unless otherwise posted, with the change taking effect at the start of September.

Black Diamond will soon be up to speed with the rest of Diamond Valley regarding the town's speed limit.

At its July 17 meeting, Town of Diamond Valley council voted to set the speed limit throughout the town at 40 km/h unless otherwise posted.

The decision, which comes into effect on Sept. 1, primarily impacts Black Diamond, which has a speed limit of 50 km/h in place. Turner Valley's speed limit is currently 40 km/h unless otherwise posted.

The decision had initially been postponed until after the amalgamation of the two communities.

According to the Town of Diamond Valley, the cost of changing speed signage in the Black Diamond community is estimated to be $8,300.

"The adjustment is part of the ongoing process to align bylaws and ensure public safety on our roadways," according to the Town.
