The Enchanted Okotoks event returned last weekend bringing adventure and excitement to hundreds.
The event ran Sept. 16-17, with over a thousand players signing onto the game, led on am epic quest in downtown Okotoks to 29 various downtown businesses and numerous fantasy characters played by local actors.
Organizers partnered with Calgary-based augmented reality game EarthMMO, which lets players create a fantasy character and venture around a virtual map of the area, fighting goblins and seeking treasure.
According to EarthMMO co-founder Rowan Sommerfeld, the game drew a significant amount of interactions downtown.
"We know we had at the site 1150 visitors, total QR code scans was 8781," Sommerfeld said in a Discord message.
"There were groups playing with multiple players and only one phone, so we don’t have a hard count yet."
