The Rocky Horror Picture Show returned to the Rotary Performing Arts Centre in Okotoks last weekend.
The 1975 cult classic took over the centre on Oct. 14 as in addition to the screening of the film, the audience took part in all the rituals that go along with it.
The low-budget flick that flopped at the box office but later became a cult favourite concerns the misadventures of Brad Majors and Janet Weiss inside a strange mansion they come across on a rainy night. Their car breaks down in the woods and they seek refuge in a towering castle nearby.
Greeting them at the door is a ghoulish butler named Riff Raff who introduces them to a bacchanalian collection of partygoers dressed in outfits from some sort of interplanetary thrift shop.
Those attending the screening were dressed the part and took part in all the rituals, from singing and dancing to throwing rice at the screen during the wedding scene.
Dr. Jared McCollum served as the evening’s MC.
