Emily Andrews votes for a gingerbread house at the Okotoks Art Gallery's Gingerbread Station.

Registration is now open for Gingerbread Station 2024 at the Okotoks Art Gallery.

Now in its seventh year, the contest sees locals create all kinds of gingerbread structures that will be on display at the art gallery from Nov. 22 to Dec. 13.

All ages are welcome to participate, with categories for youth and adults.

Public voting for the winners of each category will run from Nov. 22 to Dec. 7.

According to the rules of the contest, entries are not limited to a house. They could be barns, bridges, birdhouses, trains or any other imaginative gingerbread structure, although there are size and weight restrictions.

All entries must be made of 100 per cent edible materials, so no plastic trees or fake presents.

The three entries in each category with the most votes from the public will receive a gift card for a business of their choice in Okotoks.

Registration deadline is Nov. 16 and entries are to be dropped off at the art gallery between Nov. 19 and 21.
