Volunteers needed for Light Up Okotoks

Mayor puts out call for community's help in staging annual celebration that ushers in the holiday season.

Okotoks’ most iconic event needs volunteers. 

Mayor Tanya Thorn put out a call on social media for the community’s help staging this year’s Light Up Okotoks, which takes place in Olde Towne on Friday, Nov. 22. 

“Having events like this requires lots of help and we need you to make this a great community showcase,” Thorn posted on Facebook. “We have opportunities to volunteer in a variety of areas.” 

Volunteer opportunities include: 

• Barricade Attendant (16 +) 

• Event Set Up (16+) 

• Fire Pits (18+) 

• Hot Chocolate/Take-Home Craft Kits 

• Light Up Okotoks Volunteer Orientation 

• Light Up Okotoks Take Down 

• Medical Booth Attendant 

• Museum Attendants (18+) 

• Santa Helper (18+) 

• S’mores Station Attendant (16+) 

• Wagon Ride Check In Attendant (18+) 

• Waste Stations 

• Stage Security 

There are varying shift times throughout the evening. Set up starts at 3 p.m. and take down ends at 10 p.m., with many options in between. When you sign up through the Town’s volunteer portal, you will be able to choose your desired time slot.
