In Loving Memory of Joyce Elaine Fowell
(Nee Johnson), of Okotoks, AB [September 4, 1934
– January 3, 2025].

It is with profound sadness that we announce the
peaceful passing of Joyce Elaine Fowell at the age
of 90. Surrounded by her loving daughters and
her cherished dog, Zoey, Joyce left this world with
the grace and love that defined her life.

A woman of class, elegance, and warmth,
Joyce brightened every room she entered.
Her deep love for animals was a passion she
instilled in her children, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren, creating a legacy of
compassion for all living beings.

Joyce treasured a vibrant and fulfilling social life,
delighting in the company of lifelong and newly
found friends and neighbors alike. She brought joy
and laughter to those around her with her warmth
and keen sense of humor, and of course, her love
of games. Known for her impeccable style, Joyce’s
wardrobe was legendary - a collection that could
outfit an entire army, one that would undoubtedly
be the most stylishly dressed in history.

Above all, Joyce was a hard-working and devoted
mother who worked tirelessly to ensure that her
daughters had the best life. She was a pillar of
love and support, guiding us through our toughest
times with grace and strength.

Joyce’s passing leaves an immeasurable void in
the hearts of her four daughters: Teresa Fowell
(Malcolm Gareau), Cathy Fowell, Sandra Claluna,
and Heather Fowell (Wayne Conradson); her four
grandchildren: Antonia Claluna, Dallas Stalker
(Danielle), Cole Stalker, and Sadie Stalker; and
her great grandchildren: Rylee and Westyn
Stalker. Her adored Shih Tzu, Zoey - her ninth and
most recent canine companion - brought her
boundless joy.

She was predeceased by the father of her
daughters, Melvin Cyril Fowell, in 1988, and by
her special family friend, Charles (Tuffy) Larson,
in 2016 Joyce valued the lasting friendships she
maintained throughout the years: her former
in-laws, Gloria and Bill Cumming and their family;
Guido Claluna, former spouse of Sandra, as well
as her close friends nearby who filled her days
with love, laughter, and companionship.

A celebration of life will take place this spring in
Okotoks, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, donations
in her honor may be made to any cause that
advocates for animals of any species - well, except
perhaps snakes!

Joyce’s generous spirit, heartfelt compassion,
and boundless love will be deeply missed, but
her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew
and loved her. Her daughters are committed to
honoring her memory by striving to live as she did
- with grace, kindness, and unwavering strength -
guided by the remarkable example she set in the
way she lived her life.

Rest peacefully, Joyce - you are truly one of a kind.
