She loved her dogs, lunches out with special people, playing
euchre, anything to do with Christmas, Birthday parties,
and especially her family.
Nancy born in Kitchener, Ontario in 1946 raised in
Lucknow, Ontario by mom Irene (predeceased) and dad Gerald
(predeceased) with 3 younger sisters Susan (predeceased), Judy (Ron),
Sally (Stuart) and twin brothers Doug (Lorrie) and Donnie (Teto).
In 1964 Nancy ventured outWest to Calgary, Alberta following her soon
to be husband (then ex) Keith Gardner. The two married and settled
into a working/family life in Calgary.
In 1976 Nancy and Keith found a beautiful acreage just south of
Okotoks to raise their 3 kids Steve, Brenda (Mark) and Brad.
In the early days Nancy worked for Dr. Grant Hill at the only doctor’s
office in town, which connected her with almost everybody in Okotoks.
She was instrumental in starting up All-Star Paving their new family
adventure.
Soon after in 1995 she joined her daughter Brenda at Alberta Dance
Academy where she worked for over 13 years. After finishing with the
studio, she gleefully took a job as a Walmart greeter and was in her
element welcoming so many families and friends. She then reeducated
and learned new computer and office skills and joined the office of
Dr. Ed Sands for a few years.
Her true calling may have been to be the best grandma ever! She
was given a second wind at motherhood helping Steve raise his twins
Amanda (Ben) and Brandon. She was a special grandmother to Brad’s
son Zeven, hands on at every opportunity. She made the studio into
a second home for Brenda’s kids Jordan, Tyson and Brooke. If that
wasn’t enough, along came the GREAT grandchildren, Stone, Journey,
Aubree and Axe which she deeply cherished.
A debt of gratitude to so many special people that helped us in these
last few trying months. Lorrie, Doug, Shae (fave niece), Teresa (Murray)
extra special family in our time of need. High River General Hospital and
the Foothills Country Hospice went above and beyond to care for our
beautiful Granny.
In lieu of flowers Nancy wishes donations to be made to the Foothills
Country Hospice (Okotoks) for their future development to provide
for families in need. We will always remember your beautiful smile,
contagious laugh, kind eyes, caring nature, quick wit, spunky fun
personality, and most of all the love you shared.
“Lots of love, always…XXXOOO”
