LETTER: Canadian leaders shouldn’t attend inauguration

Canadian politicians should show some backbone after Trump's threatening and demeaning remarks.
Donald Trump is the President Elect for the United States.
Donald Trump's inauguration takes place on Monday, Jan. 20.

Dear Editor,

Should our premier go to U.S. President Donald Trump’s inauguration? No, no, no.

This event will be a celebration of the incoming person's return to the highest position in the United States, an opportunity for bowing and scraping and licking of boots.

Canada's "leaders" should be showing our backbone, our pride in our nation, our will to stand firm. Where are our brave and true? Why aren't they standing on rooftops and using their platforms to shout: "Canadians cannot and will not be pushed aside to be trampled on, to assuage a dictator's desire to be the largest landowner on the planet."

In my humble opinion, attendance at this gathering for one who has threatened, demeaned, smirked at and belittled our position on Earth will be seen by the principal as grovelling and will put a smile on his face.
