Funny how the same questions keep being asked, for instance the one about attracting predators and all of the latest sightings of carnivores was because they were attracted by family pets. I also hike around this town a great deal and in my opinion the count is way off. If you see a deer down by the river between the two bridges it is seldom as compared to many two years ago, the ones travelling to the golf course are way less etc. Wondering if the deer haters moved here without knowing about our loved deer population. Also maybe the editors can find something more important to write about like water rationing or street repairs.

The count is way off I think. As a deer watcher on a daily basis I believe the numbers of deer have declined dramatically in the last couple of years. I think the counters are all counting the same deer.

Since you are the author of articles on deer attracting cougars to our town I would like to point out that it often is more likely to be family pets attracting them as in this Priddis incident and coyote and bobcat incidents in Calgary.

Just as I thought the Western Wheel have shown thwir editorial staff to be antideer. I would like the writer to show me how many predators the deer have attracted to our town. And some ludicrous examples like Montreal has culled deer, Okotoks and Montreal, shows you how hard this guy dug to prove his prejudged point. The deer provide pleasure to many people and live here because this valley was home always. By the way how about an article on how every problem caused by deer involve dogs. Try writing about something important like rental, housing, homelessness, vandalism , electric bikes and scooters speeding on footpaths, instead of picking on a symbol of gentleness and peace.

I am looking at today's newspaper and my belief that the editor of this paper is totally in the deer hater camp. Without fact check or even considering the deer's position you go ahead and print everything, true or hearsay, that this woman said. Did you consider that she saw the deer but continued towards the deer likely with her dog barking his head off and then likely holding the leash so the dog could not escape. And does she go about the neighbourhood looking for these apples or is this another thing she may have heard. I would like you to write an editorial stating your biased opinion on our deer even though you have not been in our town very long.

Was there a dog involved..stomped.elephants stomp not deer. There are far more serious problems in this town that have to be attended too instead of worrying about our beautiful wild animals that only bother people when threatened..unlike unleashed dogs who attack other dogs and people. I note the western wheel is quick to publish any deer complaints word by word. maybe the editor could write a column about his feelings about deer.

As in all other instances of this nature there is a dog involved who most likely barked his head off and likely there was a fawn nearby. By the way the deer did not pick up the dog and shake him until he was dead. Nor was the deer responsible for the car vandalism in that neighbourhood.. Wondering how she knows people put out apples. I have walked by hundreds of deer , I do not have a dog and I have never had the deer give me anything but a casual glance and go back to feeding.

My observation on the paths by the river is that many riders go way too fast for their ability. This is all ages and along with all the other vehicles using these paths it can be very dangerous. Is there a speed limit, an age limit and if so who will enforce it.
